SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THE THEN SINGING HERITAGE OF THE TAY PEOPLE IN TAN LAP HAMLET, TAN TRAO COMMUNE, TUYEN QUANG PROVINCE

Abstract

This paper explores the potential for sustainable tourism development linked to the intangible cultural heritage of Then singing by the Tay ethnic group in Tan lap Hamlet, Tan Trao Commune, Tuyen Quang Province. Then singing is not only a unique form of folk art but also carries spiritual values, reflecting the traditional cultural life of the Tay community. In the context of integration and development, how can the exploitation of  Then be considered a cultural tourism product that contributes to heritage preservation and promoting livelihoods for local people?  The article analyzes the current status of preservation and tourism exploitation of Then singing, assesses advantages and challenges, and proposes solutions for sustainable tourism development in conjunction with safeguarding ethnic cultural heritage. It emphasizes the role of local communities, authorities, and stakeholders in building distinctive cultural tourism models that help maintain ethnic identity and promote socio-economic development in the region.
