Innovating examination design is an essential requirement to promote the methodological value and practical applicability of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy. This article examines the reform of exam construction in the Marxist-Leninist Philosophy course in the direction of applying theory to practice, thereby enhancing students’ critical thinking capacity and civic qualities in the context of digital transformation. Based on an analysis of the current situation of exam design at Tan Trao University - identifying both strengths and limitations, particularly the predominance of knowledge-reproduction-oriented questions - the paper proposes the development of open-ended essay exams that connect theoretical foundations with contemporary social realities, and simultaneously outlines reform solutions to improve the quality and significance of the course.
