Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a lifelong learning process that equips learners of all ages with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to recognize, analyze, and address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, natural resource depletion, and issues of inequality and discrimination. The use of technology and innovative teaching methods in sustainable development education is an increasingly popular trend aimed at enhancing the quality of education and contributing to the sustainable development of society. This article is based on theoretical issues of teaching and education for sustainable development, and surveys of lecturers and students at Tan Trao University in Tuyen Quang, Vietnam, and Rajabhat Udonthani University in Thailand to propose several approaches and methods, such as the application of information and communication technology (E-learning and Blended Learning, Gamification, Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR), etc.); the use of innovative teaching methods (Project-Based Learning, Interactive Learning, Experiential Learning, etc.); and collaboration and partnership with the community in education for sustainable development to enhance educational effectiveness and develop lifelong self-learning abilities for learners.
