In the context of educational digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching Vietnamese at the primary level has become an inevitable trend. This paper analyzes the current practices and evaluates the effectiveness of applying artificial intelligence in teaching Vietnamese for Grade 3 students at several primary schools in Tuyen Quang Province. The study adopts a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, and involves 15 teachers and 180 Grade 3 students through surveys, classroom observations, and pre- and post-experimental teaching interventions. The research findings indicate that the integration of AI contributes to enhancing students’ learning motivation, increasing their active participation, and significantly improving learning outcomes in Vietnamese, particularly in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The proportion of students achieving good and excellent academic performance increased by 15–20% compared to the period before the implementation. However, the application of AI in teaching Vietnamese at the primary level still faces several challenges related to infrastructure, teachers’ technological competence, and the availability of age-appropriate learning materials. Based on these findings, the study proposes several measures to enhance the effectiveness of AI integration in teaching Vietnamese for Grade 3 students, thereby contributing to the improvement of primary education quality at the local level.
